This care has often been life-changing for those recovering from cancer or trauma, who might otherwise have been unable to afford such critical surgeries.

From his early days as a medical student volunteering in war-torn Bosnia/Herzegovina, through his time at Ground Zero on 9/11, and as a combat trauma surgeon in Iraq, Dr. Hamawy has been at the forefront of medical response in some of the most challenging environments imaginable. His humanitarian reach extended to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, where he not only treated countless patients but also trained local medical staff.
